Purpose
To ensure that instrument design integrity is not compromised while managing the instrument engineering department in the execution of the project.
Specific accountabilities
- Overall supervision of Telecommunication engineers, designers and drafters.
- Technical competence of telecommunication engineering personnel.
- Participated in HAZOP's/CHAZOP and IL assessments using the LOPA method and will be able to carry out SIL Verifications
- Forecast requirements for instrument engineering resources and allocate those resources.
- Instrument design integrity of workscope and maintenance standards.
- Identify instrument software necessary to enable instrument group to function effectively.
- Inter discipline communication development.
- Instrument group communication development.
- Prepare telecommunication man-hour estimate to perform project tasks.
- Check compliance with Alliance QA/safety/environment roles.
- Promote Alliance culture in instrument engineering group.
- Promote Client understanding and confidence in the instrument design through involvement in the design process.
- Manage telecommunication design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
- Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable.
- Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.
- Promote career development within the group
- Identify and review new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost effective facilities.
- Technical supervision of project designated instrument designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duty.
- Prepare weekly instrument progress and expenditure reports on a project specific basis.
- Benchmark instrument design/drafting and identify areas of improvement.
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Oil & Gas Business Unit.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor Degree in Instrument or Electronic Engineering.
- Min 15 years+ plus design experience (FEED) within the oil and gas onshore/offshore industry.
- Extensive Onshore Oil and Gas experience covering Gas Compressions, Power Plant, Plant Layout etc. in brownfield interface experience on large FEED and Detailed Design Projects.
- Experience with instrument and and control design in accordance with applicable International codes and standards.
- Experience with Yokogawa Centum CS 3000 and ProSafe RS Systems will be an advantage
- Experienced in design of control system, ICCS systems, instrument specifications and data sheets, instrumentation philosophies for process control & monitoring systems, pressure relief systems, advanced process control optimization and cabling and wiring installations
