Reporting To: Senior RD&A Manager
To assist the Flavor Portfolio Manager with developing, managing and maintaining an effective, viable Flavor Portfolio that meets local and regional customer needs and consumer preferences across all categories and targeted end-uses. A successful portfolio will provide the benefit of speed, quality and cost-to-serve advantage in serving the developmental needs of the customer base; allow creative and application resources to focus upon on key, significant project briefs; and ultimately increase Taste business.
The flavor library will address key applications end-uses and flavor types, as addressed by this role. In close collaboration with the Flavor Portfolio Manager and Technologists, this position will assist and be responsible for driving the development/creation, and maintenance of the portfolio, and ensures quality of the library content. This role is also charged with promoting utilization of the portfolio, and monitoring success against established metrics, and continually improving the effectiveness of the library.
Key responsibilities
Flavour Collection management:
- Identify needs for flavors within the library for each category, sub-category, and end-use that best meet marketplace and customer developmental requirements, i.e., profile preference, flavor scope, etc.
- Manage inventory & replenishment of Collection Flavours by maintaining an adequate stock of the flavours
- Keep the collection within the acceptable shelf life of the products (establish a general shelf life of the samples)
- Responsible of the country master data info is up to date and validate the monthly basis data upload into beacon system
- Loading the new data into the master data weekly
- Adhere to agreed timelines; Outline and plan projects, obtaining all materials needed to meet project deadlines
- Build and maintain a library of application specific flavors for efficient sampling and brief execution.
- Maintains adequate stock of standardised “collection” products
- Manage the flavour library in terms of stock replenishment, identifying expired flavours for replacement and update of the collection list
- Internal sampling to RDA teams if necessary
- Maintain a clean and efficient laboratory workspace, adhering to HACCP procedures
- Preparing flavour samples for evaluation, conduct sensory evaluations of existing and screening potential library flavours by RDA and Commercial
- Responsible to get FG sample if necessary for evaluation
- Development of a regular sensory panel for evaluation of finished flavours and raw materials
- Leading the pre-screening of flavours process, sample preparations, Sensory ballot information summary and loading the info into the master file
- Upgrade and maintain flavor portfolio in line with new developments and technical criteria
- Make flavor selections and adjust flavor levels in application for optimal performance and demonstration to client
- Ensures all outputs are recorded according to established protocols. Documents all testing results and research notes in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and retrievable records of all formulas sent to clients in central database
- Degree Holder or equivalent, with minimum 2 years' experience working in a Food Ingredient or Flavour industry
- Strong technical flavour exposure required
- System knowledge is an added advantage (i.e. Sales Force, MDG, BEACON)
- Basic understanding on Product Regulatory, Dangerous Goods, MSDS, Packaging (Air, Sea), Cross-contamination mitigation, Customs
- Fluent in in both Local and English Language
