Get to know the Role:
As such, we are seeking talented & passionate Engineers to join our team. You will have opportunities to work on multiple backend service clusters as well as participate in machine learning pipelines. It is very important that our team members take the initiatives to identify problems and have the right mindset and skill sets to solve them.
The day-to-day activities:
Design and write with the state of the art Go language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services
Have a thorough understanding of how to deploy performant cloud-based backend services
Actively participating in both code and design review
End-to-end development of your team’s products including ownership of the team’s infrastructure using Terraform, building and scaling back-end services, designing efficient backend service interactions as well as performing root cause analysis investigations
Be part of on-call for your team’s products and services, and participate in post-mortems for any incidents
Working in a regional organization with offices across different countries and cultures and facilitating collaborating across these different teams.
Work with product managers, data analysts, and product designers to implement products and features, and test their impact on business metrics.
Technical must-haves:
Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and multithreading, relational and non-relational databases
Proficient with at least one language commonly used for backend services development (C#, Java, C++, C, etc.), but willing to work on Golang and Rails
Demonstrates a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure with hands-on experience being a plus.
Soft skills must-haves:
Communicates competently in English
Excellent communication skills, sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills, ability to think critically system growth, and stability
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with high-speed distributed computing frameworks like Apache Flink is a plus.
Experience with Kubernetes, Dockers is a plus.
Experience in writing real-time input signals for a Machine learning Model is a plus.
