Job Responsibilities :
This position provides the overall strategic direction for all external communications and outreach, including engagement with central and local government officials and their staff, community leaders, media and other stakeholders. This position is responsible for maintaining favorable perceptions of the company by creating public awareness via community outreach or CSR program, understanding and support for the company vision, mission and initiatives, and effectively building and managing the company reputation.
This position requires coordination of multiple staff within the department and across the organization, as well as integrating the work of multiple consultants, working on high profile, sensitive and confidential issues.
The position also serves as a member of the executive management team and as senior media spokesperson for the company.
- Plan and develop communication strategies, program, work plans, policies and processes to strengthen the company public reputation and (political) impact
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with government officials/staffs and community stakeholders; navigate complex issues and find common ground to work on initiatives that benefit all parties involved
- Develop and direct effective community outreach programs; develop and implement strategies to cultivate and maintain support for the company operations and projects
- Develop and implement strategic communications and public affairs programs that advance the company mission, vision and goals
- Work extensively with staff in organizing, coordinating, and reviewing work and assignments are being completed, while also integrating the work of multiple consultants/vendors
- Consult and communicate with executive management and board of commissionaires regularly regarding government/community outreach and engagement, communications policies, practices, and related issues
- Direct, lead, and review the preparation of briefing packets for elected officials, media and their staff, reports and presentations (including board of commissionaire reports), news release and other types of publications and collateral materials
- Coordinate communication efforts with other central and local government agencies, including identifying best practices and working to implement those practices on behalf of the company
- Conduct ongoing formal risk assessments, anticipate and identify issues that could become controversial with the media; effectively oversee and manage controversial/crisis, emergency communications and high-profile issues; develop and maintain crisis communications plan and procedures and brief executive management accordingly
- Direct and oversee public opinion research to support communication strategies
- Plan and develop CSR program for the company that support SDGs; coordinate with relevant departments to execute the program
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in government, communications, public relations or related field
- Min. 8 years of directly related experience, including at least 3 years at a management level
- Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills
- Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and change management skills
- Proven ability to work effectively with people having differing viewpoints and objectives including state and local elected officials, the media, and the public
- Complex project management in a fast paced, high stakes environment
- Ability to manage self under significant pressure and in situations involving highly emotional stakeholders
- Ability to analyze sensitive communication problems and adopt an effective course of action
- Develop logical and persuasive oral and written arguments and presentations for different audiences
