Woodside has operated Pluto LNG since start up in 2012. Gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena fields is piped through a 180-kilometre pipeline to Pluto LNG’s single onshore LNG processing train.
Woodside’s development of the Scarborough gas field is through a brownfield expansion of Pluto LNG. The project includes the construction of a second gas processing train (Train 2) that will have a capacity of about 5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa).
51 modules for the Train 2 gas processing train will be constructed at a Module Fabrication Yard located in Batam Island, Indonesia.
Bechtel is seeking a Coatings, Insulation and Fireproofing (CIF) Field Engineer to join the Pluto Train 2 Module Fabrication Team in Batam Island, Indonesia.
Pluto Train is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility. Pluto Train 2 will process Scarborough gas and have an LNG capacity of ~5 million tonnes per annum. As part of the construction of Pluto Train 2, additional domestic gas infrastructure will be installed to increase capacity to ~ 225 Terajoules per day.
On 1 January 2022, Woodside issued Full Notice to Proceed (FNTP) to Bechtel (Western Australia) Pty Ltd and Bechtel International, Inc (Bechtel) for the Pluto Train 2 Project Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope of work. Woodside is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.
Position Overview
This position will report to the Lead Coatings, Insulation and Fireproofing (CIF) Field Engineer and coordinate with the Area Field Engineer. Responsible for overall quality of painting, insulation, and fireproofing. This position will interface with other discipline field engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, and planners to develop project schedules for painting, insulation, and fireproofing.
What you bring:
- Establish insulation, paint, and fireproofing application philosophy.
- Track and report installed quantities.
- Ensure Coatings, Insulation and Fireproofing construction installation program is compliant with project specifications and applicable codes.
- Review and approve permanent plant materials bought for painting, fireproofing, and insulation.
- Coordinate paint, insulation, and fireproofing releases.
- Review and implement Inspection and Test Plans and verify the completeness of quality documentation.
- Maintain all the calibration records for the instruments used for painting and coating.
- Create and issue work packages.
- Provide technical assistance to superintendents, field engineers, subcontractors, foremen, and craft workers.
- Perform inspections and documentation of all insulation, painting, coating, and fireproofing work in progress on a continuing basis, and ensures documentation is complete prior to turnover.
- Assist supervision and project controls in preparation of 3-week lookahead schedules.
- Review quantity estimates from design drawings, and provide input to the quantity tracking applications and reports weekly verified installed quantities to Project Controls.
- Issue material withdrawal requests for permanent materials.
- Assist field procurement in inspection and receipt of received materials.
- Resolve design clashes and any other constructability or technical issues.
- Verify accuracy of data from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Nace Level II preferred.
- University/B.S degree in a relevant engineering discipline is desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.
- Minimum 5 years of related construction site experience is required in coatings, fireproofing, and insulation.
- A minimum 5 years of experience in LNG cryogenic insulation is required.
- Must demonstrate expert understanding and working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Direct Hire Experience, preferably in a lump-sum environment.
- Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Infoworks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects, is an asset.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
