Get to know the Team
The Merchant design team defines the user experience of our merchant partners of Grab. We’re looking for a Senior/Lead Product Designer to play a vital role in shaping the products and services offered to our merchants. You must be a critical, inventive thinker with strong design fundamentals, an excitement for understanding and using data, an ability to communicate your ideas effectively - while being customer centric in how you approach problems.
Get to know the Role
You will collaborate daily with a diverse set of specialists, including product designers, product managers, product analysts, business stakeholders and end users to build a great user experience which balances business results with end user delight.
Work with other project stakeholders to deliver the information architecture, user journey map and wireframe flow for new production projects.
Participate in user research and testing activities around the Southeast Asia region.
Turn data from market, industry trends, competitive analysis, and user experience research into user insights.
Mentor and educate fellow designers especially on hard and soft skills.
The Day-to-Day Activities
User research (interviews, shadowing) for technical users (personas including engineers, data scientists, and analysts) of data platforms, to understand their workflows and discover UX stories, including gaps to external solution (SaaS/PaaS) experiences
As the first product designer working with data technology platform teams, you would be responsible for usability aspects of a longer-term data platform products strategy
As a product designer, you will be working directly on design systems, with a focus on front-end interface design, from paper sketches and mood boards to screens and UI components
Contribute to mature the design system, including component libraries, documentation, and education.
Create contemporary component user interface libraries with prototyping tools, such as Framer or Principle.
Practice and embrace hands-on design collaborations together with design and engineering team members, and negotiate and validate against UX success metrics.
Establish a strong partnership with your product manager on running user research, product discovery, and validation to synergize design and product strategy.
Apply a mature understanding of technical engineering constraints and design guidelines where needed.
Comfortable working with front-end engineering teams for web interfaces, including participating in code reviews. It’s a big plus if you have contributed to code repositories for web or native apps.
Iterate on existing designs, and manage the tail end of the design lifecycle, QA, and developer handoff
The Must-Haves
6+ years of design experience
An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating user-centered design solutions and UI design expertise.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong visual design skills to complement your UX skill.
A strong track record of iterative design, working closely with product tech and business partners from inception through implementation.
Strong skills in managing time and workload independently.
Ability to craft strong design presentations and storytelling by keeping our users in mind.
