Job Description

Overview

YouGov is looking for an Associate Research Manager to join our Public Affairs and Polling team. A Jakarta-based hybrid office/WFH role, you will work with a multi-national team of experienced researchers that specialise in political, policy and academic work in the Asia-Pacific region.

Reporting to our Director of Data Science (based in Sydney, Australia), you will work to produce high impact research for a range of clients, including political campaigns, NGOs, interest groups and corporates.

The Associate Research Manager will be responsible for questionnaire design, data analysis and reporting, and client management.

Main Responsibilities
  • You will design survey instruments to measure and track attitudes and behaviours. You will write, script and manage these surveys for our clients on a range of topics.
  • You should be up to date with the latest research tools and techniques. You will work with our team to analyse survey data and write high-quality reports that provide insights to empower our clients to make informed decisions and help shape public discussion on important issues.
  • You will be responsible for daily connection with clients on their projects, including collaborating with our clients to help them gain actionable results and insights from our analysis. This extends to working with them to help make sense of our findings and incorporate this into strategic planning.
  • You will work with the team leadership to write proposals to win new work on exciting projects.
  • All of this will be done as part of a dynamic team that works together to produce research that has a real impact in the region.
  • You will be expected to demonstrate project management skills, helping coordinate different projects the team is working on.
Qualifications
  • This is a research role. 3+ years market research experience executing quantitative research studies is expected. This includes a good understanding of statistics and sampling, with demonstrated knowledge in quantitative research methods and experience working with survey data, preferably using R.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline is necessary.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver results is also necessary. You need to be able to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • You should bring a proactive and positive attitude to learning and helping others. Our team is small, and we help each other to meet our goals.
  • You should be based in the greater Jakarta region (although some flexibility on working from home is available).
  • You should be fluent in English. Being multilingual and able to work in other languages is also desirable.
  • Experience managing projects is a plus.
  • An understanding and interest in the politics of at least one country in the Asia-Pacific region is highly desirable.
