Our facility in Batam, Indonesia specializes in the production of lighting and detection product technologies including our Specialty Lamps for industrial and photonics applications, IPL Lamps and Trigger Coils, as well as Infra-Red Detectors (IRD), Sensor Modules and Pyro-electric Ceramic Wafers. Operating since September 1994, this site is also responsible for manufacturing of our Thermopile Sensors (TPS), Thermopile modules (TPM), CCD Sensors and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies.
We are presently seeking a Developer Lead – Operations Technology Group (OTG), reporting to Director OTG in Global Advanced Manufacturing (AM) and Operation Excellence (OE), Corporate Operations.
Background: The objective of the Advanced Manufacturing (AM) and Operations Excellence organization, is to work closely with multiple site leadership and continuous improvement teams, to formulate, implement, and harmonize our advanced manufacturing and operation excellence strategies across the global Excelitas factory network. We seek to advance the best practices of IR4.0 in order to be the most productive and globally optimized photonics manufacturing network.
As the Developer Lead within the Operations Technology Group (OTG), you will lead a team of developers to accelerate IR4.0 in order to produce operations success globally, both in centralized and decentralized use cases.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate, implement, and harmonize our advanced manufacturing automation (systems and processes, hardware, software, and analytics) across the global Excelitas factory network to improve our factory’s productivity and lean six sigma continuous improvement programs.
- Be a strong technical, leadership, and program management conduit between corporate AM/OE (Pleasanton) and OTG (Asia).
- Drive IR4.0 continuous improvement, planning, and execution in partnership with local leadership and Global Development Center using a balanced global and local optimization approach.
- Provide business/operations/engineering data analytics support to the corporate AM/OE group. Develop software solutions for efficiency & throughput gains across global manufacturing sites.
- Develop executive level and plant/site manager-level data visualization platforms to ensure factory’s productivity and operations excellence are tracked and aligned with AM/OE strategic initiatives
- Work with local and global teams to suggest, collect, understand, and document solution requirements, prototype solutions, define project metrics for success, and update project planning and execution reports within OTG. Develop and improve UI/UX of current solutions in subsequent releases.
Strong candidates for this role possess a majority of the below attributes and skills:
Experience & Education
- BS/MS in CSE/Software Engineering or equivalent degree with a demonstrated academic record of excellence. Candidate must be proficient in written English.
- Manufacturing: 2-4 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with exposure to process engineering (unit process and integration), equipment engineering, industrial engineering, and/or hardware/software automation engineering, preferably in the semiconductor/photonics industry. Specific example experiences include, but not limited to: OEE, IIOT, APC, SPC, MES, AGV, COBOT, Data Analytics, and Data Visualization.
- Software: 5-10 years’ software development experience with an emphasis on automation, digitization, UI/UX, efficiency, and value creation.
- Strong alignment with the performance expectations of the global AM/OE team.
- Demonstrated leadership experience of a small nimble software development group. Capable of working in a highly cross-functional, cross-geographic, collaborative environment and able to influence others. Ability to lead the team in defining requirements, developing project plans, and deploying solutions on time and on budget.
- Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work on a diverse team. Ability to challenge and disagree internally during requirements gathering and solutions design, but commit, defend, and deliver once resolved.
- Strong desire to continuously learn new skills and lead new technology investigations of software and hardware solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills with the understanding of both Operations and IT terminology. Ability to present at the management level.
- Ability to summarize complex data sets for technical and non-technical audiences with high proficiency in data visualization.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with operations efficiency related software development and deployment.
- Preferred mastery of Python for rapid prototype development with the ability to refactor in .NET for robust security and scalability. The ability to learn and adapt to changing technologies and multiple programming platforms across different business units is required.
- Proficient with Excel Macro Scripting and/or MS VBA programming to automate complex analysis. Comfortable with script writing in other platforms a plus.
- Proficient in cloud computing platforms and Microsoft Power Platform: AWS, MS Azure, MS Power App, Power Automate and Power BI
- Experience in VueJS, Angular, or other UI/UX experience for web based and mobile app design.
- Experience with edge deployed hardware solutions. (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, industrial edge computers, etc.)
- Experience with database architecture, access, and data extraction for analytics programming (SQL, NoSQL, Data Virtualization)
- Understanding of ERP/MES system, APIs, and interfaces with enterprise, system, and satellite applications.
- Understanding of statistical analysis and data visualization to understand manufacturing needs and support the best path forward for a solution. Experience in Minitab, R, JMP, or SAS programming a plus.
- Experience with Python and software interface with edge level hardware devices and firmware (IIOT).
- Experience with LabView, Wonderware, and UIPath.
- Experience with Sharepoint and Office 365 integration.
