- Minimum of bachelor’s degree holder with a subject in Indonesian Literature/Language
- Teaching credentials issued by the Indonesian Government
- Minimum five years of experience in the subject area
- Experience in a school with a well-defined High School philosophy – International curriculum setting preferred
- Versed in conceptually based, backward by design unit planning
- Experience in teaching Indonesian Language and Literature as both a first and second language preferred.
- Experience with the Indonesian national curriculum for language and literature preferred ( Curriculum 2013 and/or Curriculum Merdeka).
- Experience with, and commitment to, a Professional Learning Community and departmental work
- Demonstrated background in associating with students outside of the classroom environment – this could include experiences in drama, sports, clubs, music, or other non-academic endeavors
- Passion for teaching in High School
- Clear commitment to Child Safeguarding, safety, service learning, and environmental stewardship
With five original students, Jakarta Intercultural School was founded by UN workers in 1951. These pioneers introduced relevant schooling in English for children of expats in the newfound Republic of Indonesia. From early days the school's international identity was clear. It was originally named the Joint Embassy School (J.E.S.) after its British, American, Australian and (then) Yugoslavian embassy partners. Just over a decade later, in 1978, J.E.S. became Jakarta International School and in 2014, Jakarta Intercultural School.
