About the role
Based at Thiess's office in Balikpapan, Indonesia, as the Plant Operations Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing plant operational activities across our sites.
In this role, you will:
- Plan, organise and direct the asset and maintenance operations to ensure the most effective return on assets.
- Initiate plans and processes which minimise manufacturing costs through effective utilisation of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital to ensure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while ensuring product standard that will exceed customer's expectation.
- Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issue and employee safety attitudes.
- Monitor the cost and effectiveness of maintenance activities to optimise resources, priorities spending and maintain projected cost variance within budget for equipment.
- Set and monitor the performance of the plant against standards and targets.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement policies and procedures to ensure that the plant meets its current and future production targets and quality standards.
- Research, evaluate and recommend investments in technology, capital, equipment, systems or other assets that will enhance the plant's production capabilities.
- Lead, direct, evaluate and develop a team of managers to ensure that the plant meets its established targets and standards.
- Liaise with OEM's, dealers and suppliers to purchase parts and to optimise plant operational and cost performance including the implementation of the cost management strategy for plant activities which is to align with the strategy of the Indonesian Plant Development.
- Have a minimum of 10 years previous experience in a similar role experience in large open cut mining operation of which at least five years in production/service supervision/ management role
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of heavy plant equipment and business
- Experience in project implementation and comprehensive knowledge of maintenance management principles and practices
- Strong experience in leadership, coaching and mentoring
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to create and use advanced spreadsheet as well as database management applications
- Hold a degree in Maintenance /Engineering or related discipline
