A leading international building materials company is seeking a Technical Manager (Building Materials) who will be based in Tangerang, Indonesia to support a large, complex business unit with a regional remit.
About the Technical Manager (Building Materials) Role:
In this business critical role you will be responsible for defining R&D and product development strategy and the highest quality service to customers. You will also take the lead providing direction to all technical-related activities, including R&D, QMS and regulatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee product testing to ensure that all products meet quality, regulatory and customer requirements
- Define R&D and product development strategy; identify and develop products for new markets
- Manage bill of materials and ensure that product and engineering changes are processed in accordance with the quality management system
- Manage all regulatory, quality and compliance requirements and ensure documentation is up to date and in line with current legislation
- Lead the technical team by inspiring and motivating. Ensure personal development training plans are in place
- Provide engineering and technical support across the business - operations, procurement, finance, marketing and commercial
- Report on the status of new product introduction and research projects at senior management and divisional group meetings as required
- Manage the new product introduction process and prepare information for gate reviews and capex approvals in accordance with business strategy
- Represent the company on trade and regulatory bodies, both nationally and internationally
- Support operations and procurement to drive lean and continuous improvement both internally and externally through the supply chain
- Liaise with customers, commercial and marketing to establish and maintain product and technology roadmaps
- Identify and lead change and continuous improvement
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from engineering or design discipline
- Minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience in the formulation, composition and treatment of ceramic tile covering products (including glaze, compound and frits)
- Be financially and commercially skilled in budget management/control
- A track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver new product introduction programmes on time and within budget
- Understands customer needs and be able to turn requirements into innovative strategic solutions
- Willing to travel
- Fluent in English
