JOB SUMMARY
The Account Director leads a team of Brand, Marketing & Digital Account Managers focused on developing marketing strategies for the property of Yogyakarta Marriott Hotel within Jakarta Sales Office geographical area, with special emphasis on Digital Marketing. The position is responsible for managing and maintaining on-going relationships with properties and owners, and works closely with Marketing Knowledge Experts (KE) to ensure Marketing initiatives are being executed at the property and regional levels in partnership with the Centers of Excellence (COE). Serves as the primary point of contact for a collection of hotels for Brand, Marketing and Digital (BMD) needs. Designs customized annual marketing and implementation plans for each assigned property including setting key marketing goals and identifying key marketing channels to be utilized to reach goals. Partner with their Managers to design strategic plans for the hotels in their portfolio for the year ahead, but also work with Revenue Management and Sales area leadership to ensure alignment with Area priorities and needs.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- College (University) degree in marketing, hospitality management, or related field
- MBA or similar advanced degree a plus
- 4+ years managerial experience
- Prior experience in the field of marketing or marketing services support, digital marketing and social media experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to balance the interests and demands of multiple stakeholders
- Hotel property experience, hotel field marketing experience, or related preferred
- International working experience strongly preferred
The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
- Leads a team of Marketing & Digital Account Managers focused on developing marketing strategies for the properties, with special emphasis on Digital Marketing.
- Monitors property-level marketing planning to verify business targets and key MI/brand strategies are appropriately represented in property marketing plans
- Monitors team in customizing marketing plans for specific properties, with brand specialization where possible
- Communicates with relevant stakeholders as brand educator and advocates with Owners, General Managers and other property leaders
- Understands the competitive environment and the local customer attitudes / behaviors
- Develops and implements integrated programs for key market in response to customer needs, market trends, key competitors, brand direction, and stakeholder needs
- Reviews property plans, marketing output and verify best practices are followed
- Collects and share best practices for plans and campaigns across managers
- Provides guidance, mentorship, and review work of managers
- Assists in hiring/promotion decisions of team members
- Manages relationships with senior property and Regional leadership (e.g., owner groups with multiple properties)
- Serves as the primary point of contact for a collection of hotels for Brand, Marketing and Digital (BMD) needs
- Designs customized annual marketing and implementation plans for each assigned property including setting key marketing goals and identifying key marketing channels to be utilized to reach goals
- Communicates with property to get input throughout planning process
- Understands owner expectations in order to develop effective marketing solutions that meet the expectations and create value for both owners and Marriott International
- Develop a thorough understanding of the lodging business (hotel operation, industry drivers, challenges, competitors, MI’s position in the global marketplace) and cutting edge marketing trends to unveil opportunities for growth
- Understand global brand and marketing strategies and their application to the Latin American markets and its consumers
- Verify global strategies meet the marketing needs of all the brands for the Latin American Markets and pull through new marketing programs/products/services to deliver successful, brand appropriate local implementation
- Provide marketing budget guidance to property leadership
- Work with COEs, KEs and other MI teams to execute key marketing and digital activities
- Manage coordinators and any other BMD support personnel, as assigned and verify quality of work
- Share quantitative view on how various channels/activities support business objectives (e.g., anticipated ROI per channel) and set goals/targets
- Determine KPIs and specific goals for properties, monitor progress against those goals and provide reports and information about progress.
- Update plans as needed based on performance
- Educate hotel and regional leadership about strategy, best practices, and policies/procedures to confirm adherence to and adoption of regional guidance.
- Educate GMs/owners on marketing and eCommerce topics and trends.
- Identify opportunities for expanding services for a given property; share value of expanded services with property leadership; include ROI analyses for services and campaigns
- Respond to ad-hoc requests
- Serve as main point of contact for region AVP and Area Directors.
