BACKGROUND
Save the Children Indonesia is seeking a qualified Water Supply and Sanitation engineer to support the leadership, technical and administrative elements of its on-going Projects of Water-sanitation-&-hygiene (WASH) in Sumba NTT. This program is to improve nutrition status and reduce c waterborne diseases by increasing access to improved water and sanitation. WASH services will be improved through design and construction of water conveyance and treatment infrastructure.
KEY AREAS ACCOUNTABILITY
- Ensure implementation of the various components of the project.
- Participate in validate the relevance of the intervention area, the selection of beneficiaries, identification of committed players ;
- Take into account the project’s global performance : impact, relevance, consistency, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, kinds and covered groups ;
- Ensure the project’s representation in terms of coordination with local government, local leader and local partner ;
- Ensure the project’s integration in local structures;
- Coordinate activities and sensitise local partners in the field ;
- Identify technical training needs in the community ;
- Organize, create, follow up and implement the Water committee training and provided the basic maintenance tools for each facility.
- Organize information meetings to involve the community members on technical aspects such as; project design, technical constrain, etc..
- Plan the activities according to the development of the project ;
- Follow the project’s advancement by regular visits ;
- Propose solutions or improvements for better performance of the project ;
- Identify and anticipate problems or constraints all the working sites on a weekly basis and reports all achievements.
- Provide all necessary technical and physical support to the field team, local NGO and community labours
- Anticipate any logistic problems and coordination with logistic and Sumba Field Manager
- Inform the Sumba Field Manager about any kind of quality and quantity problem for the materials and tools used to build the facilities
- Make sure that all the security requirements are fulfilled on site: use of helmet, glove, boots, good quality rope, harness, plastic strip or temporally fence to delimit the construction site and prevent children to fall down or to be injured, nobody smoke near the well, no generator just near or inside the well etc…
- Do the last Quality check with the Sumba Field Manager nto confirm the completion of the implementation as follows SC standard
- Write activity reports.
- Availability to works in Sumba Barat and Sumba Tengah, NTT.
- Monthly and week report
- Technical project design using SC standard calculation format.
- Sponsorship Annual Plan
- Detail Implementation Plan document and monthly plan
- Staff capacity building plans in place and provides technical support as needed.
- Provide any related documentation as required from Save the Children
- Project site Quality Check
- Bachelors University Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience managing a WASH Project.
- At least 3 years of work experience with non-government organizations in the areas of education or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in managing programs with international NGOs.
- Able to travel occasionally to project sites.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills and strong verbal and written communications skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English
- Proven skills in project/program development and report writing
- Good analytical and conceptual thinking
- Good team facilitator and member
- Willingness to stay in remote locations and travel at times in difficult conditions
