Job Description
Head of Engineering at Laku6 is a key leadership position and central to our plans for quickly scaling the Laku6 tech organization as we expand across the Greater SEA region. We are looking for a strong, customer focused individual who has experience in building and leading engineering teams from the front, for us to deliver market leading products to meet the company vision.
The role reports to Laku6 CTO with close mentoring from Carousell Group CTO and is based in Indonesia (preferably Jakarta).
You will:
Lead the development of high quality, impactful, scalable products and systems that delight users and achieve business goals
Operate these systems in production at high availability and reliability levels, while minimizing infrastructure cost
Hold the teams to high standards in engineering and quality practices, speed of delivery, architecture and design, and code quality along with detailed documentation practices
Develop and implement Engineering best practices such as documentation
Attract, hire, develop, and retain great engineers and engineering managers as we ramp-up the tech organization, who thrive working in innovative, user-focused, fast paced environment
Grow the engineering team from 10 to 40 through a consistent recruitment and onboarding process
Set clear measurable goals for your engineers and engineering managers
Foster a culture of continuous growth and improvement through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and clear measurable outcomes
Own the technical strategic roadmap planning, and help shape the engineering strategy for the organization as a whole
Work Closely with DevOps team to provide proper CI/CD, configuration management and development environment for the Engineering Team
Take essential and immediate steps to ensure system safety by securing system borders to avoid fraud, data theft, ransomware attacks and importantly personal data leaks
Introduce and support process for incident management including quality control of RCAs
Qualifications
12+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years' experience as a hands-on engineering leader
A track record of developing and leading product and platform engineering teams via mentorship and coaching engineers and engineering managers
Strong CS foundation and practical experience with software development, system architecture, and design. Excellent knowledge of distributed system concepts, problems, and solution patterns
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with the following software architectures, techniques and technologies: Microservices, Domain Driven Design, Containerization, Kubernetes, Kong, Mobile App and SDK Development, GCP Technologies
Bachelor's degree, with a strong academic record, in Computer Science or Engineering, Masters preferred.
