Manulife Indonesia Lead Architect position is for advanced architects who can utilize their breadth and depth of expertise with their understanding of the business domain and competitive/technology landscape to design comprehensive solutions across product and organizational boundaries within product line. The architect role is “hands on” and requires working closely with developers and other architects to design and implement/code effective solutions in complex software systems. Responsibilities include leading the design effort in a collaborative environment, evolving design over time, owning significant architecture decisions, and serving as a leader and mentor.

We are looking for someone with:
  • Proficient at a Senior Software Engineering Level
  • Senior-level experience in Java Enterprise Edition or equivalent; middleware frameworks and solutions, ESB, MQ, BPM, BRE etc; software design, development, testing, supporting applications and database-related experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in a team environment
  • 5 years of experience leading project teams
  • 3 years of experience mentoring others as a Leadership
  • Expert knowledge of software architecture and security concepts and best practices
  • Expert knowledge of database design and data architecture
  • Expert knowledge of generally accepted software development lifecycle processes
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, enterprise application patterns, pattern-oriented software architecture, gang of four and/or other patterns catalogs
  • Deep knowledge in architectures like 3-tier, distributed, SOA, Microservices
  • Ability to work in abstractions at design and code level
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Ability to recognize gaps in design details and fill in-to complete story
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and gain expertise
  • Positive in the work environment and clearly respectful of others

  • Perform complex systems analysis and design activities, spanning multiple features, products, or teams within a product line, including extensive research and proof-of-concept development
  • Lead architectural assessment and evaluation pertaining to subsystems
  • Provide mentoring and training to other team members and architects on technologies and processes; drive education and knowledge transfer of design patterns, technical best practices, and relevant technologies and tools
  • Serve as a domain expert and provide technical advice to other departments within the business unit, collaborate with other architects across different groups
  • Contribute to and be responsible for parts of the development and evolution of technical and architectural roadmaps
  • Assist management with technical direction and prioritization of the technical backlog
  • Perform evaluations of new technologies and third-party solutions and participate in build versus buy decisions
  • Serve on a team with other Software Architects to provide technical and architectural guidance and expertise to other engineering teams
  • Be actively involved and hands-on with design, programming, and testing of solutions
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code
  • Work closely with other Software Architects and team members to identify areas for improvement (i.e. architecture, infrastructure, processes and technologies)
  • Set design conventions and standards related to:
  • Domain Driven Design
  • Messaging Architecture
  • Software Patterns (Unit-of-Work, Dependency Injection, Inversion of Control, others)
  • Unit Testing
  • Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Behavior Driven Development (BDD)
  • Socialize existing and new architecture patters, best practices, and platform foundations
  • Ensure infrastructure and architectural documents are accurate and up to date
  • Analyzes functional and technical capabilities of new and existing product offerings to determine fit and appropriateness for the company.
  • Promotes application architecture view within larger architecture context.
  • Engages with vendors as the technical application lead including project/roadmap delivery, solution viability, system/data/interface integration, data accessibility, vendor performance, and ability to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple applications / projects simultaneously.
  • Reinforces department goals and vision and continually implements this strategy and respective business function’s advocacy into overall communications.
  • Understands and abides by the Company’s business practices, policies, and philosophies.
